Most disease originates with either DEFICIENCY or TOXICITY

Most Americans have ample access to a variety of fresh fruits, vegetables, clean water and good quality meats. It amazes me that a country with an ample food supply has a population with so many nutrient deficiencies and health problems. You would think we would be the healthiest nation on the Earth, after all we spend more on healthcare than any other nation. Yet, we aren’t the healthiest people out there. According to a December 2022 report on the Peterson-KFF Health System Tracker, “The U.S. has the lowest life expectancy at birth for both women and men.” A sad truth, but I believe we can do something about it.

It is my opinion that most disease begins either with deficiency or toxicity. We are exposed to hundreds, if not thousands, of different toxins and pollutants in our environment daily. Mitigating that is not completely in our control. There are things we can do to lessen the toxic load, but no matter what, we are still confronted with exhaust fumes, harsh chemicals, pesticides and herbicides (like glyphosates) in our food, pharmaceutical residues, chlorine and fluoride in the water. It is coming at us from all angles. I won’t even get into the 5G issue, but that adds onto an already towering pile of toxic load. Beyond physical toxicity, emotional and mental toxicity can negatively impact or health as well. Undealt with emotions and negative thinking patterns like to hang out in our connective tissues and biofield (another topic for another day), and can eventually manifest as injury or disease if left unchecked.

Beyond toxicity, we also grapple with vitamin and mineral deficiency issues in our modern world. Due to the unsustainable way that large monoculture farms raise food, our soils are becoming more and more depleted. I am all for regenerative, local farming. This year, my family bought a share of a local farm, and pick up boxes of fresh, organically grown vegetables every other week. I also have my own garden where I grow medicinal and culinary herbs and veggies. Not everyone has an option like this in their town or yard space to plant a garden, but if you do, I suggest looking into it! We need to shift back to buying local and supporting small farmers.

Getting back to my point, what can we do to hedge our bets in this crazy world? I’ll share my top three supplements with you, that my family and I take daily, for keeping our health and wellness at a maximum. You can also purchase these supplements from my Fullscript dispensary, at a discount, here.

Hedging my Bets with these TOP THREE Supplements:

  1. Adaptogen Herbs – There are a few blends of adaptogens that I love, and Adaptogen R3 from Premier Research Labs is one of them. adaptogenic herbs like cordyceps, maca, eleuthero, and rhodiola are known to support the body in dealing with physical and mental stress. This blend also supports metabolic and cardiovascular health. In general, I find adaptogens to be useful for helping to tone and strengthen the body overall, and help deal with whatever stress life throws my way.
  2. Spore Based Probiotics – Microbiome Labs Mega SporeBiotic – My entire blog is mainly devoted to singing the praises of fermented foods and probiotic rich beverages. While I try my very best to consume some kind of fermented food each day, sometimes I get busy. Also not everyone likes sauerkraut or milk kefir. So, on days when I don’t get my probiotics in with my foods, I take this as a supplement. Sometimes I do both! Microbiome labs Mega Spore is a phenomenal product. My daughter takes this to help keep eczema outbreaks at bay (along with the other two supplements listed here).
  3. Grass Fed Beef Liver Capsules – Code Age Beef Liver – I don’t like the taste of liver, so I take it daily in a pill. I noticed that I stopped losing so much hair when I started taking this supplement. Liver is a great source of iron and many of the fat soluble vitamins. While we throw the liver away, preferring other cuts of meat, our ancestors ate the liver first, saving it for the pregnant and nursing women, as well as the frail and weak in the community. I believe it is time we get back to the basics. I also like taking food based supplements as much as possible, minimizing synthetics where I can.
