Diary of an Electrosensitive – Part 1

For me, this journey began back in 2020, after giving birth to my fourth child. The world was in the early throws of the COVID-19 pandemic, and 5G was just beginning to roll out all around us. I look back on this time frame as a major shift, similar to the way things changed drastically in the world after September 11, 2001. Most of us remember where we were when we heard the news of that terrorist attack on our soil.

Things were not so clear cut for me. I started having strange symptoms right after giving birth. I figured it was probably from losing so much blood, or all the pharmaceuticals they gave me. I had a strange, uncomfortable feeling in my right side big toe. It was as if a rock or something was in my shoe, or something was poking me. After inspecting my socks and my slide on hospital shoes I found no rocks. My toe wasn’t injured in any perceptible way either. My symptoms seemed neurological in nature. A mystery. No one at the hospital seemed to be concerned about what I was sharing, so I let it go and tried to focus on the beautiful baby in my arms, and for a while, that was just what I did.

I was discharged normally, and went home to begin life anew. I started noticing even more symptoms, like tingling in both feet, my hands, and dizziness. I again just attributed it to losing so much blood, but after months of this, I realized it had to be something else.

I went to my family doctor, told him all the strange symptoms I was having, and waited, hoping he would have an answer. He suspected low vitamin B12, and ordered a blood test. My blood test results showed that I wasn’t low at all, not even close. So, a dead end.

Another of my children goes to a Doctor of Oriental Medicine and Acupuncture for the management of eczema, so I started asking her questions about what she thought might be going on with me. Her eyes got large and she looked knowingly at me as she informed me that I might be “electrosensitive”.

Huh? What is THAT? So, I did a web search. This is what Wikipedia has to say about EHS, or Electromagnetic hyper sensitivity:

“Electromagnetic hypersensitivity (EHS) is a claimed sensitivity to electromagnetic fields, to which negative symptoms are attributed. EHS has no scientific basis and is not a recognized medical diagnosis, although it is generally accepted that the experience of EHS symptoms is of psychosomatic origin. Claims are characterized by a “variety of non-specific symptoms, which afflicted individuals attribute to exposure to electromagnetic fields”. Attempts to justify the claim that EHS is caused by exposure to electromagnetic fields have amounted to pseudoscience.”

That definition came off as aggressive to me, and at this time, I wasn’t even a believer – yet.
